Dr. Timothy J. Woods, Sr.


Dr. Timothy J. Woods, Sr. was born in Birmingham, Alabama. A third generation Baptist pastor, he is the eleventh of thirteen children born to the union of Bishop Calvin Wallace Woods, Sr. and the late Lucille Grayson Woods.

In 1987, Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church extended the call to Dr. Woods to serve as their pastor, and he accepted!  Now, 37 years later, he is still Hopewell's pastor! Under the leadership of Dr. Woods, Hopewell continues to thrive, make great accomplishments for the Kingdom, and make disciples for Christ.

Dr. Woods has a passion for denominational work. He serves as Vice Moderator for the Village Springs Manly District Association as well as an instructor in the ministerial department.  He is the former President of the New Era Progressive Missionary Baptist State Convention of Alabama where he also held the following positions under past administration: Corresponding Secretary, Instructor for the Ministerial Department, Chairman of the Election Commission, as well as Third Vice President.  Furthermore, Dr. Woods is very active in the National Baptist Convention of America Incorporated International and serves on the Board of Directors and, is the Executive Secretary Treasurer for the Evangelical Board.  Dr. Woods has also served in other positions in the past, which include Chairman of the Evangelical Board, Tent Revival Coordinator for the Evangelical Board, Instructor for the NBCA, Inc., International Congress of Christian Workers in the Ministerial Department, and the Chairman of the Late Night Worship Service.

Dr. Woods is the proud father of three adult children: Jessica, Timothy, Jr., and Justin.  His grandchildren, Alfred, Bryson and Breonna are the joy of his life!
